Sesame Rice (Ellu Sadam)

🧄 Ingredients
- ¾ cup cooked rice (cooled)
- 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp black sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 dry red chilies
- 1 tsp urad dal
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp grated coconut (optional)
- 1½ tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- Few curry leaves
- Salt to taste
🍽️ Instructions
- Dry roast white and black sesame seeds until they splutter. Set aside to cool.
- Grind the roasted seeds with red chilies and salt into a coarse powder.
- In a pan, heat sesame oil. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves, and asafoetida.
- Add grated coconut (if using), and sauté briefly.
- Mix in the ground sesame powder and stir well.
- Add cooked rice and toss until evenly mixed and heated through.
- Serve warm with papad or curd.
