🧄 Ingredients

  • ¾ cup cooked rice (cooled)
  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 dry red chilies
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp grated coconut (optional)
  • 1½ tbsp sesame oil
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • Few curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

🍽️ Instructions

  1. Dry roast white and black sesame seeds until they splutter. Set aside to cool.
  2. Grind the roasted seeds with red chilies and salt into a coarse powder.
  3. In a pan, heat sesame oil. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves, and asafoetida.
  4. Add grated coconut (if using), and sauté briefly.
  5. Mix in the ground sesame powder and stir well.
  6. Add cooked rice and toss until evenly mixed and heated through.
  7. Serve warm with papad or curd.
