🧄 Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice (soaked)
  • 200g button mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 green chili (slit)
  • ½ cup chopped coriander & mint
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp thick yogurt (optional)
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala or biryani masala
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • Whole spices (bay leaf, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon)
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • 1¾ cup water

🍽️ Instructions

  1. Heat oil, fry whole spices. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste and green chili. Sauté for 1 minute.
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until they shrink and release moisture.
  4. Add chili powder, turmeric, biryani masala, salt. Mix well.
  5. Add yogurt (if using), chopped herbs, soaked rice, and water. Stir gently.
  6. Cover and simmer on low heat for 15–20 mins. Let it rest before serving.
