🧄 Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice flour (roasted puttu flour preferred)
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ to ¾ cup water (as needed)
  • ½ cup fresh grated coconut
  • Puttu maker or idli steamer

🍽️ Instructions

  1. Mix rice flour with salt and sprinkle water little by little to make a moist crumbly texture. Flour should hold shape when pressed.
  2. In a puttu maker, layer grated coconut and rice flour alternately. Start and end with coconut.
  3. Steam for 7–10 minutes until well cooked. If using an idli steamer, place in moulds and steam similarly.
  4. Gently unmould and serve hot with kadala curry, banana, or sugar and ghee.
