🧄 Ingredients
- 2 cups bottle gourd (peeled, chopped)
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- 2 tbsp chana dal
- 1 tbsp rice
- 2 green chilies
- 1 cup sour curd (yogurt)
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 dry red chili
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- 1 tsp coconut oil
🍽️ Instructions
- Cook chopped bottle gourd in a saucepan with salt and little water until soft.
- Grind coconut, green chilies, soaked chana dal, and rice with water to a smooth paste.
- Add the ground paste to the cooked gourd and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Whisk curd to smooth, then lower heat and add to the curry. Mix well and heat without boiling.
- Prepare tempering with coconut oil, mustard seeds, red chili, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Add to the curry.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or millet-based sides.
