🧄 Ingredients

  • ½ cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
  • ½ cup rice (short grain or sona masoori)
  • 1 small carrot (cubed)
  • 1 small capsicum
  • ½ cup green beans (chopped)
  • ¼ cup green peas
  • 1 medium onion (optional)
  • 2–3 tbsp Bisi Bele Bath powder
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2½ to 3 cups water
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chili for tempering

🍽️ Instructions

  1. Wash and soak toor dal and rice separately for 20 mins. Cook dal until soft.
  2. In a pot or cooker, boil vegetables until just tender.
  3. Add cooked dal, rice, bisi bele bath powder, tamarind paste, and water. Mix well and simmer for 10–15 mins.
  4. Prepare tempering with ghee, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and red chili. Pour over the bath.
  5. Stir gently and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with papad or boondi.
