Curry Leaves Rice (Karuveppilai Sadam)
Servings: 1 bowl (approx. 100g) | Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 15 mins
🧄 Ingredients
- ¾ cup cooked rice (cooled)
- 1 cup curry leaves (washed)
- 4–5 dry red chilies
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1 tbsp grated coconut
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Salt to taste
- 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
- Few curry leaves (for tempering)
🍽️ Instructions
- Dry roast curry leaves, red chilies, cumin, pepper, urad and chana dal till aromatic. Let it cool.
- Grind with grated coconut to a coarse powder without water.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, hing, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
- Add ground curry leaf masala and sauté on low flame for 1–2 minutes.
- Add cooked rice and salt. Mix well until evenly coated and heated.
- Serve hot or pack for lunch with chips or curd.
